Our philosophy
In our carefully cultivated setting, it is not only the vines but also wine lovers who feel at home. Why is that? The Santer organic winery in Mühlbach stands for sustainable organic viticulture and authentic wine enjoyment in South Tyrol. In tune with the rhythm of the seasons, we produce characterful organic wines and juices made from fresh fruit, whilst the pigs and chickens enjoy their own little paradise right in the middle of it all.
Our philosophy is based on treating nature with respect, sustainable farming practices and the vision of being ambassadors for high-quality products. History of the Winery
A farm that has stood the test of time: the Santerhof in South Tyrol was first mentioned in historical records in the 16th century. Since then, our family-run organic winery in South Tyrol has evolved over generations. Its history is characterised by consistency and the courage to embrace change. Every new idea and every fresh start has shaped our winery and made it what it is today.
Today, the Santer organic winery at the entrance to the Puster Valley stands for sustainable organic viticulture, artisanal wines and an authentic experience – whether in the glass, in the vineyard or during a visit to the estate itself.
The Gasser family
The Santer organic winery in Mühlbach, South Tyrol, has been run organically by the Gasser family for over 30 years. Willi and Helga Gasser laid the foundations for sustainable organic viticulture long before sustainability became a trend.
Today, Johannes Gasser and his partner Birgit continue to run the family winery together with Helga. Time-honoured traditions meet modern cellar technology, resulting in characterful wines produced with a contemporary philosophy.

The Santer Winery is inextricably linked to his life. With courage, drive and a strong pioneering spirit, Willi shaped and developed the estate.
He had an eye for innovation whilst maintaining a deep respect for tradition. Through his work, his wealth of ideas and his tireless dedication, he made the Santer Winery what it is today: a place of encounter, hospitality and connection with nature.
