Philosophy in a bottle
At the Santer organic winery in Mühlbach, Italy’s northernmost winery, we focus on fungus-resistant grape varieties (PIWIs).
These innovative vines are characterised by their natural resistance to powdery mildew and downy mildew. As a result, they require hardly any chemical treatments and grow in a particularly natural, sustainable and resource-efficient manner, which is vital for forward-looking viticulture.
The grapes are harvested by hand with the utmost care and processed directly in our wine cellar at the organic winery. Here, we combine modern cellar technology with traditional craftsmanship to allow the grapes to reach their full potential.
Rio 0.1
The RIO 0.1, made from the PIWI grape variety ‘Johanniter’, is an organic sparkling wine produced using the Charmat method. In the glass, it displays a sparkling straw-yellow colour with a fine mousse. Aromas of quince, peach, citrus and tropical fruits lend it freshness, fruitiness and elegance.
Ideal as an aperitif and with finger food, fish, shellfish and desserts.
